An inferno has ravaged the headquarters of Christ Embassy Church in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State.
Eyewitnesses confirmed to Channels Television that the fire, which broke out early Sunday morning, caused extensive damage to the property. Videos circulating on X show the massive destruction of the edifice.
Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service officials arrived promptly to battle the blaze. The police have cordoned off the area to maintain order.
Christ Embassy, led by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, faced a significant loss, but the Fire Service assures the public that the situation is under control.
Margaret Abimbola Adeseye, Director of the Fire Service, sent a voice note confirming ongoing firefighting efforts and that no lives were lost. She reported that the fire was first noticed at 07:27, and units from Alausa and Ikeja fire stations reached the scene by 07:36.
“The church auditorium was engulfed in flames. The fire is now under control,” Adeseye stated. An excavator is being used to demolish parts of the building to ensure complete extinguishment and prevent structural collapse.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
