Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho, affectionately known as “Senior Man,” has left Leicester City following the expiration of his contract. Leicester City announced Iheanacho’s departure, along with Dennis Praet and Marc Albrighton, on their official website on Friday, June 7, 2024. The trio exits as free agents ahead of the 2024/25 football season.
The club expressed gratitude for the players’ dedication and contributions, particularly in helping Leicester City return to the Premier League after their relegation to the Championship in the 2022/23 season.
Iheanacho joined Leicester City from Manchester City in August 2017. During his tenure, he scored 61 goals for the Foxes, including a memorable winner against his former club in the FA Community Shield final at Wembley in August 2021.
Marc Albrighton leaves as a club legend, having made 313 appearances and winning the Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, FA Community Shield, and Sky Bet Championship. Albrighton also scored Leicester’s first-ever UEFA Champions League goal against Club Brugge in September 2016, cementing his legacy as one of the club’s most successful and beloved players.
Dennis Praet, who joined from Sampdoria in August 2019, also departs after making 107 appearances and scoring five goals.
Meanwhile, Leicester City is in discussions with Wilfred Ndidi regarding a potential contract extension.
