Kendrick Lamar is set to perform his first concert since his feud with Drake simmered down, with the show scheduled for Wednesday, June 19. The 36-year-old rapper, known for his album Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, announced “The Pop Out” concert will take place at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on Juneteenth. Lamar also hinted at surprise guest appearances during the event.
The announcement features a poster styled like a license plate, detailing the show’s specifics. The concert is being presented by pgLang and Free Lunch, according to Pitchfork. A presale for Cash App cardholders will occur on Thursday, June 6, followed by general ticket sales on Friday, June 7.
This concert comes about four weeks after the apparent end of Lamar’s beef with Drake, 37, who released “The Heart Part 6” referencing Lamar’s song series. In the track, Drake claimed to have fed Kendrick false information to test his patience, while also addressing rumors about his personal life.
The conflict between the two rappers traces back to Drake’s album For All The Dogs, which included “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole. Cole’s verse mentioned the trio as the “big three” of rap, prompting Kendrick to respond with a verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.”
J. Cole later issued a diss track aimed at Kendrick but retracted it soon after. Drake responded with his own diss track, to which Kendrick replied with “euphoria” and a series of pointed tracks, culminating in “Not Like Us,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100. Drake’s final word came with “The Heart Part 6,” but many fans declared Kendrick the winner of the feud.
As anticipation builds for “The Pop Out,” fans are eager to see what Kendrick has in store for his first major performance following the high-profile beef.
