Ubisoft Toronto Joins Development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake

Ubisoft Toronto is now assisting with the development of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. The studio announced on Twitter that it will be working alongside Ubisoft Montreal on the project. In 2022, Ubisoft Montreal took over the remake from Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai, after the project missed its initial release target of January 2021. At that time, Ubisoft stated that Montreal would be “building upon the work achieved” by its Indian studios. However, producer Jean-Francois Naud revealed last year that the project was still in the “conception” phase, with the team considering community feedback to guide their development.

Ubisoft Montreal, known for originating the Sands of Time trilogy, has a history of developing significant titles such as the Splinter Cell series, the Rainbow Six series, and most of the Assassin’s Creed games. Ubisoft Toronto, on the other hand, has developed Far Cry 5 and 6, Watch Dogs: Legion, and is currently working on a Splinter Cell remake using the Snowdrop engine.
