Netflix announced the release date for its highly anticipated animated Tomb Raider series, titled “The Legend of Lara Croft.” The show will debut exclusively on the streaming platform on October 10, 2024.
The series continues after the events of the “Survivor Trilogy” video games, focusing on a younger version of the iconic British archaeologist, Lara Croft. In this new chapter, Lara embarks on increasingly perilous solo adventures. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when a thief with a personal connection to Lara steals a dangerous and powerful Chinese artifact from Croft Manor.
Lara’s pursuit of the stolen artifact will lead her on a thrilling journey around the world and to the depths of forgotten tombs. Along the way, she must confront her true self and decide the kind of hero she aims to be.
The series features a talented voice cast, with Hayley Atwell (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning) voicing Lara Croft. Allen Maldonado and Earl Baylon, reprising their roles as Zip and Jonah Maiava from the video game series, will also lend their voices to the animated adaptation.
Legendary Television and Powerhouse Animation, known for the acclaimed Castlevania anime series, are producing “The Legend of Lara Croft.” The show is executive produced and written by Tasha Huo, recognized for her work on The Witcher: Blood Origin.
It’s worth noting that this Netflix series is distinct from the live-action Tomb Raider series currently in development for Prime Video, with Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge serving as a writer and executive producer.
With the release date confirmed and an exciting new trailer revealed, fans of the Tomb Raider franchise can anticipate a fresh and thrilling chapter in Lara Croft’s adventures as she faces the challenges of her solo missions and grapples with her identity as a hero.
