Fraud and Theft Charges Lead to Arrest of Sean Kingston and Mother

Singer Sean Kingston was arrested in California on fraud and theft charges after a SWAT raid on his South Florida mansion, which also led to his mother’s arrest. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Kingston was apprehended without incident in San Bernardino County on a Florida warrant. This occurred just hours after Broward detectives detained his mother, Janice Turner, at Kingston’s Fort Lauderdale home on similar charges.

Robert Rosenblatt, Kingston’s attorney, stated to NBC News, “We were in the process of having him return to Florida after his show. We want him back as soon as possible to demonstrate that this is a civil case, not a criminal one. We look forward to challenging this case in court.”

Before his arrest, Kingston reassured his followers on Instagram, writing, “People love negative energy! I am good, and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”

NBC News in South Florida reported that the raids were linked to a lawsuit against Kingston for allegedly failing to pay for luxury items such as a TV, watches, and a custom-made bed. Kingston’s mother has a history of legal troubles involving false loan applications and bank fraud.

Kingston, known for his 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls” and his collaboration with Justin Bieber on “Eenie Meenie,” has not released music under a major label for over a decade. Attorney Dennis Card, representing an individual suing Kingston over the unpaid items, claimed that Kingston often uses his celebrity status to acquire goods without payment, promising collaboration with stars like Justin Bieber.

Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, will remain in San Bernardino until he is returned to Florida to face the charges.
