Former Arsenal and Manchester United Striker Robin van Persie has taken on a new challenge as the head coach of Dutch top-flight team Heerenveen. At 40 years old, van Persie, the leading scorer in Dutch men’s football history, has inked a two-year contract and is set to embark on his inaugural managerial position this summer.
Since hanging up his boots in 2019, van Persie has been honing his coaching skills, serving as an assistant coach at Feyenoord while also guiding the club’s under-18 and under-19 squads.
