Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has clarified that he has no plans to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer, despite rumors suggesting otherwise. Boniface joined Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise on July 22, 2023, for a transfer fee of €20.50 million and has been in outstanding form since his arrival.
This season, the 23-year-old forward has scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 30 games across all competitions. Despite a brief injury setback between January and March, Boniface remains Leverkusen’s top scorer.
His contributions have helped Bayer Leverkusen win their first-ever Bundesliga title and they are on track to compete for two more titles—the Europa League and DFB-Pokal—in May 2024.
Boniface’s exceptional performance has garnered interest from top European clubs, including Liverpool, Napoli, and Paris Saint-Germain. However, in an interview with AFP, Boniface emphasized that he is committed to the Bundesliga champions and is focused on their ongoing success.
“My current focus is solely on Leverkusen, striving to aid the team in achieving further milestones,” Boniface stated.
Beyond aiming for a potential treble with Leverkusen this season, Boniface is also eager to compete in the UEFA Champions League with the club next season.
“It will undoubtedly be one of my proudest moments ever,” he added.
The Nigerian international is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until June 30, 2028.
