Chance The Rapper has announced a new mixtape titled Star Line and hinted at star-studded collaborations with artists such as Lil Wayne, DJ Premier, and Lil Yachty, among others.
The Chicago rapper shared the news subtly, updating his Instagram bio to mention the mixtape, and posted a teaser clip on X (formerly Twitter) featuring cameos from Wayne, Premier, Yachty, Jermaine Dupri, T-Pain, Jazze Pha, and Vic Mensa. Chance also previewed a new song called “Buried Alive” and asked fans if he should release a video for the track.

Chance has been relatively quiet musically since his 2019 album The Big Day. He has been teasing a follow-up project for some time now. Though he previously mentioned his next album would be called Star Line Gallery, it’s unclear if Star Line is the same project or a precursor.

In a 2022 interview with Sway, Chance explained the historical significance of the Star Line title, drawing inspiration from Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Line shipping company in the early 1900s. Garvey’s venture aimed to create a network connecting the United States, Caribbean, and Africa, fostering Black connectivity and global unity.
Chance aims for a Spring 2024 release for his album, which he considers one of his “proudest projects in terms of writing and artistic vision.”
