Tems revealed her new single “Love Me Jeje” on Monday, April 22, and the track will be available to listen to on Friday, April 26.The singer introduced the song during her Coachella weekend one performance, leading the crowd through the catchy “Love me jeje, love me tender” chorus.
Seyi Sodimu, the Nigerian singer-songwriter known for his 1997 hit “Love Me Jeje” featuring Shafy Bello, shared a video on Instagram of Tems performing the track at Coachella. He praised the performance and expressed his delight in seeing music connect generations.
During her Coachella set, Tems also surprised the audience by bringing out Wizkid and Justin Bieber to perform their Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Essence.”
“Love Me Jeje” marks the first single release since Tems announced her debut album, Born in the World, set to drop in May. Last year, she released two singles, “Me & U” and “Not an Angel,” which both reached No. 3 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart. Tems also performed “Not an Angel” at the Billboard Women in Music event in March, where she received the Breakthrough Award from Savannah James.
During her acceptance speech, Tems expressed gratitude for the support of the amazing women and her community. She emphasized the special connection she feels with her continent and her people.
