New Feature Alert: WhatsApp Introduces Multiple Message Pinning

WhatsApp users can now conveniently pin up to three important messages within their chats, marking a significant upgrade from the previous limit of one pin per chat. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp head Will Cathcart recently announced this update, allowing users to prioritize essential information easily.

Previously, WhatsApp limited users to pinning only one message per chat when the feature was initially launched. However, with the latest update, users have the flexibility to pin up to three messages, enabling quick access to vital details directly from the conversation.

The significance of this update, emphasizing that users no longer need to save important messages such as addresses or recipes in separate note files. The updated Help Center of the Meta-owned messaging app now reflects the new three-message pinning rule.

Users can pin not only text messages but also images and polls, ensuring that crucial information remains at the top of the chat for specified durations: 24 hours, 7 days, or a whole month. If only one message is pinned, it will appear as the chat banner. However, if multiple messages are pinned, the banner will indicate the number of pinned messages, with the most recent one displayed first upon tapping.

To pin a message, users simply need to press on it, select “pin,” and choose the desired duration. Similarly, messages can be unpinned using the same method if users no longer wish to see them at the top of the chat before the set deadline expires.

In addition to the multi-message pinning feature, WhatsApp introduced voice messages that self-destruct in December, enhancing security and privacy for users. Moreover, there have been rumors of WhatsApp developing an AirDrop-like file sharing capability, hinting at potential future enhancements to the service.
