A bill to amend the Lagos state local government administration law has been passed into law by the state House of Assembly, shortly after the house took the third reading of the bill.
Chairman of the committee on local government administration and community affairs, Kazeem Alimi did the presentation of his committee’s report during the house Thursday Yoruba plenary after which the bill was passed into law.
The law is now titled, “The Local Government (Administration) (Amendment) Law 2016” and has been sent to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his assent.

When signed into law by the state governor, local council chairmen and Councillors will now spend four years tenure instead of the current three years.
