Olamide Makes History as Most Streamed African Rapper on Spotify

Olamide, the acclaimed Afrobeat rapper, has made history by becoming the most streamed African rapper on Spotify.

As the leader of YBNL, Olamide’s impact on the music industry is undeniable, with an impressive 630 million streams on Spotify alone. This remarkable feat solidifies his enduring success and influence.

Notably, Olamide’s accolades extend beyond streaming numbers. He earned a Grammy nomination at the 66th Grammy Awards for his collaboration with Asake on “Amapiano,” nominated for Best African Music Performance. Additionally, as the founder of YBNL, Olamide has nurtured talents like Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Pheelz, Fireboy, and Asake.

Olamide’s dominance is further highlighted by his unprecedented achievement of winning three consecutive Headies Album of the Year awards, making him the only Nigerian rapper and artist to do so. His albums “YBNL” (2012), “Baddest Guy Ever Liveth” (2013), and “Street OT” (2014) all clinched the prestigious award at the Headies.
