X platform formally known as Twitter on a new program called “Not a Bot”

This announcement was shared by the x company on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

As reported, the new initiative by X grants users access to essential features including liking, retweeting, tweeting, and answering for $1 USD a year.

The full details by X,

“As of October 17th, 2023 we’ve started testing ‘Not A Bot’, a new subscription method for new users in two countries,” the company said in a post.

“This new test was developed to bolster our already significant efforts to reduce spam, manipulation of our platform, and bot activity.

“This will evaluate a potentially powerful measure to help us combat bots and spammers on X while balancing platform accessibility with the small fee amount. Within this test, existing users are not affected.”

Stating, the main aim of the program was to prevent scammers and fraud on the app.

It is worth of note that this initiative was introduced to New Zealand and the Philippines

Additionally, non-subscribers are only enabled to perform “read-only” activities, such as reading articles, viewing videos, and following accounts, with restricted access.

“New users who opt out of subscribing will only be able to take ‘read-only’ actions, such as: read posts, watch videos, and follow accounts,” X said in the post.

Additionally, the “Not a Bot” program comes with phone verification as the subscription plan will further tighten the security walls and reduce malicious activities

“This new program aims to defend against bots and spammers who attempt to manipulate the platform and disrupt the experience of other X users. We look forward to sharing more about the results soon,” the post said.

X platform is currently owned by Elon Musk.
