In response to the ongoing conflict in Israel, UEFA has announced the postponement of the Euro 2024 qualifier originally scheduled between Israel and Switzerland for Thursday of next week. UEFA’s decision stems from the current security situation in Israel.
The statement from UEFA reads, “In light of the current security situation in Israel, UEFA has decided to postpone all matches scheduled in Israel in the next few weeks, with new dates to be confirmed in due course.” Additionally, UEFA has expressed its intention to take a few more days to evaluate whether the European qualifiers 2024 match between Kosovo and Israel, initially planned for October 15, should also be postponed.
UEFA emphasizes its commitment to closely monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with all teams involved. They will make decisions regarding new dates and potential adjustments to other upcoming fixtures as circumstances evolve.
Furthermore, two European Under-21 matches, originally set to take place in Israel against Estonia on October 12 and Germany on October 17, have been postponed, along with a European Under-17 mini-tournament.
