Victoria Beckham candidly discussed the most challenging period in her marriage, which involved her husband, David Beckham, and his highly-publicized alleged affair, in a new Netflix documentary titled “Beckham.” Despite their previous denials of the affair claims during David’s time at Real Madrid in 2003, she revealed that this was the most difficult phase they had ever experienced as a couple.
In the documentary, the couple avoided delving into specific details of the affair, but Victoria openly admitted that they were against each other, saying, “If I’m completely honest, we were.”
Reflecting on the impact of this turbulent period, Victoria said, “I can’t express how profoundly it affected me and how incredibly challenging it was.”
When asked whether she had harbored resentment toward her husband at that time, Victoria admitted, “If I’m completely honest, yes, I did. It was probably the unhappiest period of my life.”
In the documentary, David Beckham, the former England and Manchester United midfielder who now owns Inter Miami, also discussed how the speculations surrounding his extramarital affairs had profoundly impacted him and his family. He acknowledged, “We struggled with some awful stories that were incredibly hard to deal with. It was the first time we faced such pressure in our marriage, and we both felt like we were struggling, not losing each other, but drowning.”
The documentary, while touching on various aspects of the Beckhams’ lives, notably maintains a level of vagueness regarding David’s alleged infidelities. Reviewers have praised the series for its candidness and riveting portrayal of the footballer’s life, noting that it is both entertaining and revealing. The Beckhams, who married in 1999 and have four children, attended the London premiere of the series together.
