Anthony Joshua known as AJ and Dillian Whyte will officially meet in a heavyweight rematch at London’s O2 Arena after eight years.
Anthony Joshua brags about his victory against Dillan Whyte, in an upcoming rematch titled ‘History of Violence’ scheduled to hold on Saturday, 12th of August 2023.
The Fist
This was shown in a statement made by the AJ in a press conference held for the two fighters by the Matchroom.
Joshua stated, “I don’t view Dillan as a rival, just another body.
Although the duo had a tense atmosphere during the conference, AJ argues that Whyte is not his opponent
Joshua also emphasized that he was not neglecting Whyte’s fight with Wilder and the potential prize in the Middle East.
“I’m certainly game for a battle. The category features several well-known fighters, but take a look at what this battle accomplishes, stated Joshua. “This war is profitable. Whyte is no longer a rival, at least not in my eyes. He is another body in the way”, Joshua stated.
Meanwhile, Whyte explained “I want three things from boxing. I want to avenge my defeats which are obviously to Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. I want to become a world champion. And I want to make some money too. I ain’t got no money, I’m broke, I want that AJ money.”
“History of Violence” birth the fighters’ rematch after the fight in 2015 Where the WBC International and Commonwealth heavyweight championships were retained by Anthony Joshua after a seventh-round TKO victory, and he also claimed the vacant British heavyweight title.
This turned sour for Whyte as he witnessed his first career loss in a professional capacity. However, he was able to exact revenge by defeating Alexander Povetkin in the fourth round by technical knockout in March 2021.
Anthony Joshua’s wins
AJ has triumphed over the years in his boxing career, Four of the six heavyweight titles now held by Joshua have been successfully defended, and he was a finalist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. He is renowned for taking part in high-profile fights with significant monetary stakes that draw record-breaking crowds.
Joshua won the Haringey Boxing Cup twice in a row in 2009 and 2010. In his flamboyant 20s, he won each and every one of his 18 amateur battles.
He defeated Emanuele Leo by way of a technical knockout in his official debut in 2013. His victory over Denis Bakjtov earned him the WBC International Heavyweight Championship in 2014. He then fought IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin in 2016 to earn his first world title. To keep this title, he faced Dominic Breazeale in a fight.
Earlier this year, Joshua lost two consecutive fights to Oleksandr Usyk but bounced back with a win over Jermaine Franklin in April.
Whyte comeback
Whyte has never won a major title, but in April 2022, when he took on WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, he did attempt to win a global championship.
Dillian Whyte has one final opportunity in this rematch to establish himself as a serious heavyweight title contender before facing Anthony Joshua on August 12.
After failing to defeat WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury last year, Whyte’s window of opportunity to fight the big names is now rapidly closing, making this fight against Joshua crucial to extending his career.
However, Whtye’s tough fight with Parker in July 2018 and his rematch with Veteran Chisora in December 2028 remain two of his biggest victories.
The Fate
If Joshua loses, the fight with Wilder will probably be canceled. With a victory, Whyte, who lost to Tyson Fury for the WBC title in April 2021, might reposition himself as a contender
However, Joshua and his supporters are anticipating this important fight in the hopes that a successful performance would restore his earlier vitality. They are aware that a victory may possibly open the door for a major match against Deontay Wilder.
The boxing world eagerly awaits the rematch as the two fighters decide their fate.
