A clash between two rival cult groups in Osogbo over the weekend has left one suspected cultist dead while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The victim identified as Wale was said to have been tricked by his friend, who is a recent jail returnee, to an uncompleted building at Tinumola area of Dada Estate, where his head was smashed with a big stone.
There was blood stain on the wall of the building and his assailants allegedly fled the scene before anyone could notice them.
Residents fled when the victim’s body was discovered at the desolated area.
It was gathered that police operatives from Dada Estate Police Division took the remains to a mortuary in Osogbo.
It was also gathered that Wale’s father called him few minutes before the incident to know his whereabouts.
Police spokesperson Mrs. Folasade Odoro said policemen on patrol received a call that some people were fighting at Tinumola Estate and moved to the scene immediately.
According to her, “When they got to the scene, they saw a young man, whose age and name was unknown, dead. One suspect has been arrested and the body deposited at the mortuary of the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo (LAUTECH.)”
She added that the Commissioner of Police, Kola Sodoro, has ordered full investigation into the matter.”
