Emeka Jeremiah Nnaji, better known by his stage name E’major,
is a Nigerian Afro-fusion and Afro-RnB singer, songwriter, and
musician who lives in America. His music is regarded as eclectic,
with influences from a variety of various genres, primarily Pop,
Hip Hop, Highlife, and Contemporary Gospel.
E’Major was the lead singer for the band “Sound City,” featuring
artists such as Flavor Nabania and Chris Odor. He is the youngest
of 9 children born to a local businesswoman and a civil servant
father. He founded the five-member a-cappella group “Lace” in
1996, during the era of Lord Eli, now known as 2face
Idibia/2Baba. He then departed to America, where he
established himself as a contemporary inspirational musician
and led the choir at churches like Christ family church
international.
Under the name “Nnaji,” he released a gospel album in 2015
titled “Really free” that included the songs “Sensitive,” “May
you rule,” and “Omeh-Mma.” In 2019, he changed his name to
E’Major, signed with motion major records, and released
“Nneoma,” his debut single as an Afrofusion/AfroRnb artist. This
song spoke to the African ethos of honoring and valuing
mothers. The Nneoma music video was shortly followed by the
release of his five-song EP, “Goose and Gander,” which included
songs like “Diamond,” “Padi,” and the smash single “Malugo.”
He released the video for “Malugo” in January 2022. It was
directed by Dindu and included stars including Uti Nwachukwu,
White Money, Cee-c, and Ugwezeji Ugweze.
