Music mogul, Andre Young popularly known as Dr. Dre is reportedly set to complete a deal that will see him sell rights to some of his royalties and master recordings for over two hundred million dollars.
According to Billboard, Dr. Dre who is estimated to be worth over eight hundred million dollars is close to selling off some of his music assets in two separate deals; one with Shamrock Holdings, and another with Universal Music Group.
In the Shamrock deal, Dre might sell his artiste royalties from two of his solo albums, his share of N.W.A. artiste royalties, plus his producer royalties and the writer’s share of his song catalog.
While in the Universal deal, it is speculated that Dr. Dre will sell the master recording of his first solo album, ‘The Chronic,’ which will likely revert from Death Row Entertainment plus his share of some Kendrick Lamar music.
Billboard also noted that these transactions as mostly passive income streams that generate about ten million dollars annually, as he is not selling his ownership stake in his record label, Aftermath which he co-owns with Interscope Records.
