Like some of us now, this is the second Christmas in a lot of years that we will not be officially at work, because it falls on a weekend, while some may not be able to make it home because of family disputes or simply a lack of funds to hop on a flight or travel by road home.

We have as usual put together 5 fun things to do at Christmas by yourself if you cannot be with family.

  1. ATTEND A CHRISTMAS SERVICE

Even if your family doesn’t usually attend church services, Christmas is a great opportunity to put on your Sunday finery and visit a nearby place of worship. It will also help you remember the reason for the season.

  1. GIVE AN UNEXPECTED GIFT

People who don’t have friends and family around often feel left out during the holiday season.

So maybe ask a local nursing home or senior centre if any of their residents need a little extra cheer, and bring them a token gift that shows someone’s thinking of them. Trust me this will make them and yourself very happy.

  1. INVITE FRIENDS OVER FOR DINNER

As we all know, not everyone celebrates Christmas, so why not send a Text or even WhatsApp message to friends to find out who is free over the holidays, so you guys can spend time together, be it at home, in the local pub or at a restaurant?

  1. WATCH AS MANY MOVIES AND TV SHOWS AS YOU WANT IN ONE SITTING

Trust me ehn, this will kill boredom more than anything you know. You know all these movies you have kept by the side because time will not let you?

This is the period to start to binge watch and by the end of the day, when you have realized how many movies you have seen, you will be surprised.

  1. PAMPER YOURSELF

This can mean putting on face masks and giving yourself a mani or pedi, or getting your hair done and buying a new outfit, or even heading outside for a run around the neighbourhood. Whatever you typically do to make you feel your best, do it now.
