In celebration of Menopause Day, we have Mosumola Dosunmu, a Menopause expert to take us through the signs and symptoms of menopause.

Menopause is the time that marks the end of your menstrual cycle. It’s diagnosed after you’ve gone 12 months without a menstrual period. Menopause can happen in your 40s or 50s, but the average age is 51 in the United States. Menopause is a natural biological process.
According to Mosumbola, Menopause simple means body change and for most women, they start changing from 42 and between 42 to 50, they have the blood flows twinkles ( From five days to 2 days) and that period is called perimenopause.
Perimenopause generally means “around menopause” and refers to the time your body makes the natural transition to menopause, marking the end of the reproductive years. Perimenopause is also called the menopausal transition. Women start perimenopause at different ages.
There is a thin line between perimenopause and menopause and when your boy system starts to change, you will observe so many changes and every organ in your system is being affected and you have over 40 signs and symptoms and it takes a very sensitive woman to know when her body is changing.
Unfortunately in our environment, they don’t get to talk about menopause and you see women going from one hospital to another and most of the time they tell them they have malaria or typhoid and if those signs are not immediately attended to, they end up having complications.
This menopause actually deals with the estrogen level going down and once the estrogen level goes down to a certain level, one start having complication.
According to menopause also happen to men. Every man on earth has his or her body system changing.
Some men develop depression, loss of sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and other physical and emotional symptoms when they reach their late 40s to early 50s. Other symptoms common in men this age are mood swings and irritability.
