Kendrick Lamar Dominates Bet Hip Hop Awards 2022 Winners List

The 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which celebrates black excellence in music, culture, and sports, took place recently in Atlanta.

Hip-hop’s biggest night honoured the best songs and videos of the year, as well as the industry’s biggest hustlers, the most visible hip-hop platforms and the most impactful protest tracks.

The 17th annual show which was hosted by Grammy-nominated rapper Fat Joe, featured some big wins, emotional tributes, and big performances, including a medley highlighting “I Am Hip Hop” award winner Trina’s most well-known hits.

As announced previously, Drake and Kanye West led the nominations this year with fourteen and ten nods respectively.

Kendrick Lamar, who dropped his final TDE album “Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers” this year, was recognized in nine categories. Future, Baby Keem, Cardi B and J. Cole also topped the list of nominees, with six or more nods each.

Kendrick Lamar was the biggest winner of the night as he went home with six awards. The Compton rapper won awards for “Artiste of the Year,” “Lyricist of the Year,” “Best Live Performer”, and the “Album of the Year” for his latest effort “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”.

He also won the award for “Best Hip Hop Video” for “Family Ties” with Baby Keem, and “Video Director of the Year” with Dave Free.

Drake, who was the most nominated artiste this year, took home three awards. The Toronto rapper won “Best Collaboration” for “Wait for U” with Future and our very own Tems, “Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse” for “Wait for U” and Jack Harlow’s “Churchill Downs.”

Trina was also honoured at the event with the “I Am Hip Hop” award. Latto won Song of the year with Big Energy, the Hustler of the year award went to 50 Cent, DJ Drama won DJ of the year while Best Duo or Group went to Earthgang, and Lizzo won Impact Track with “About Damn Time.”
