How does Critical Thinking help us unlock real independence?

According to Mfonobong Inyanga, our educational system is not wired for critical thinking, it tells you to internalized not to interrogate so if you ask questions you’re proud and religion is part of the problem brought to us by our colonial masters.

“Colonialism was not an event it was a module, they created a module in Nigeria and even the educational system is wired for you not to think critically, it’s an act of rebellion for you to think critically in Nigeria because culture and religion there reinforce the stereotype that if you ask a question you are proud.

Where do we then start?

Before we assume Nigeria is Independent, there are three levels of existence,

  • Dependent existence when you are relying on someone or something else
  • Independence – Where you are self-sustaining
  • Interdependent- Where you collaborate

So based on these three functionality is Nigeria Independent? these are questions you should ask yourself before you say it. Independence is not a title, act like you’re independent.

Independence is about how you think, colonizing came and the first thing they stole was oil, identity, culture and history so once you dint know who you are. If you don’t know your identity you can not achieve destiny.

What can we then do?

Ask questions because the true sign of education is not to give yiu answers but to give you questions. The more you learn the more you want to learn.

Three things that make you not independent.

  1.  You outsource your thinking – you are not a human being but a piece of meat if yiu outsource your thinking
  2. Loving your oppressors – Politicians treat you bad but you still vote for them
  3. When you produce by subsistence not systems – Owing your identity.
  4. When you think local is inferior

Independence starts with the mind and not the day you throw a party. It’s a day you think critically.
