Police Ban Hawking On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Over Robbery || YourViewTVC Live

In response to reports of robberies on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, the Ogun State police command has advised vendors and hawkers to avoid the lengthy bridge.

It was reported on Wednesday that some armed men dispossessed road users of their belongings at gunpoint.

This occurred amid rumours that 20 people had been abducted at gunpoint by robbers at the Kara end of the route, an allegation the authorities disproved.

According to a statement by the police spokesman for Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, some of the thugs do pose as vendors on the bridge when there is heavy traffic so they may rob people.

The command ordered vendors hawking on the bridge to cease immediately in order to stop the attack on residents and commuters, according to Oyeyemi.

He claimed that the ongoing road work at the Kara end of the lengthy bridge provided the thugs with a venue for assaulting gullible bystanders.

Oyeyemi also hinted that Lanre Bankole, the police commissioner, had sent his tactical squads to the region in light of this to supplement the divisional policemen’s attempts to examine the area.

“To this end, the Command is hereby using this medium to warn all those hawking goods on the bridge to quit with immediate effect in order to sanitize the environment and deter the criminals from perpetrating crime on that bridge and anywhere around,” Oyeyemi stated.

He quoted the Commissioner as assuring commuters of their safety, adding that “the command will do everything within the ambit of the law to flush out the hoodlums in the area.”
