American entertainer, Will Smith has again apologized to comedian, Chris Rock following his outburst at the 2022 Oscar Award ceremony.
It would be recalled that the actor made headlines when he slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ceremony for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaven head, not knowing that she suffers from a medical condition called alopecia.
Despite the slapping incident, Smith went on to win Best Actor for his role in King Richard that night, but he did not apologize to Rock in his acceptance speech.
However, According to reports, Smith had reached out to the comedian to discuss the incident but was told Rock wasn’t ready.
In a new under-six-minute video posted online Friday, Smith was seen seating in a polo shirt and white ball cap, speaking directly to the camera and answering pre-selected questions about his behavior at the March 27 Academy Awards,
“There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment. I am deeply remorseful and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself.”
To Rock, he said: Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”
Smith also apologized to Rock’s family and especially his mother, Rosalie, who said she was horrified to see her son hurt, he said,
“I want to apologize to Chris’s mother. I saw an interview that Chris’s mother did and, you know, that was one of the things about that moment I just didn’t realize, and, you know, I wasn’t thinking, but how many people got hurt at that moment. “So I want to apologize to Chris’s mother. I want to apologize to Chris’s family.”
To his family, Smith said, “sorry for the heat that I brought on all of us”
Smith also said his wife did nothing to encourage his slap. “It’s like, you know, I made a choice on my own, from my own experiences, from my history with Chris,” Smith said.
“Jada had nothing to do with it. I’m sorry, babe. I wanna say sorry to my kids and my family for the heat that I brought on all of us.”
