The Nigerian Navy has warned youths, involved in criminal activities on the nation’s waterways, to steer clear or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
The Commander of the NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Sanusi Ibrahim, gave the warning, while parading three suspects arrested, following the interception of several drums of illegally refined diesel, at the Bakana area of Rivers state.
TVC News Edmond Awadje reports that the commander of NNS Pathfinder spoke through the Base Commander, Ugochukwu Ajulu.
He told journalists that the three suspects were arrested by the Navy’s anti-crude oil patrol team alongside two boats with drums of illegally refined oil.
He said the daily routine operation is in line with the navy’s mandate to check all criminal activities along the waterways and creeks of Port Harcourt.
Ajulu warned youths nursing the intention of embarking on such criminal and illegal trade on oil along the waterways to have a rethink or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
One of the arrested suspects confessed joining the illegal business few months ago in order to make ends meet.
