Following the bandit attack on President Muhammad Buhari’s advance team, security guards, protocol, and media officers ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah, reactions have persisted.
It was discovered that the assailants opened fire on the convoy from ambush locations, but were repulsed by the DSS, police, and military men who were also in the convoy.
Two people in the convoy underwent treatment for minor injuries, according to a statement issued by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, but all other individuals, employees, and vehicles arrived in Daura without incident.
Reacting to the attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy by yet-to-be-identified gunmen, Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani said the audacious assault on the President’s convoy demonstrated just how dire the situation had gotten.
The attacks on the President’s convoy and the Kuje prisons sum it all, the former senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th Senate tweeted:
“A daring and crippling evil shattering the unbreakable stronghold of the State.”
Also, the Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere has reacted to the attack.
Afenifere said the attack on Buhari’s advance team was a signal to the government and security agencies.
Jare Ajayi, the spokesman of Afenifere, said the enemies are informing Nigerians and security agencies that they are not afraid of anyone with the attack on Buhari’s convoy.
A statement by Ajayi reads:
“The nature of these attacks should send serious signals to the governments, to the security agencies and indeed to all Nigerians.
“The one on the Presidential Team seems to be a coded language by enemies of the nation that they are not afraid of anyone notwithstanding the status of such a person.
“For, it goes without saying that a Presidential Team would normally be fortified. So, for a group to attack such a team must be out of sheer bravado – which unfortunately further exposed how vulnerable our security situation is” he added.
