2022 is set to be another busy year for the music industry.
While last year there wasn’t a lot of music, in terms of full-length projects, this year promises to deliver an influx of albums. From the young guys to regular A-listers, everyone is coming with something.
Some of the artists who would be putting out projects this year include Wizkid, who is still riding on his “Made in Lagos” wave from 2020, and Davido, who would be seeking recovery from a not-so-good 2021.
Already we’ve had albums from artists including Adekunle Gold, Simi, Falz, Rema, and Asa, and it’s just June. In the coming months, there’s gonna be a lot of albums hitting us. From Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini” to Blaqbonez’s follow-up to “Sex Over Love” and BNXN’s “Bad From 97.”
Three of the most anticipated projects from last year, though, are the albums from Rema, Fireboy, and Omah Lay. These albums are special because these guys have shown us that they are the top artists of the next generation. Maybe the new Wizkid, Olamide, and Davido.
Rema has already released his. The album, called “Rave & Roses” is one of the best sellers of this year. Anyone who’s looking to top it will have to work hard because it took Rema three years to make that.
Either of Omah Lay or Fireboy should be in pole position to give Rema a run for his money, though, with their respective studio albums. Omah Lay’s “Boy Alone” will be out in less than a month from now and we don’t have a date for Fireboy’s “Playboy” yet.
If it comes down to these three guys to carry the musical year, who would come out with the best album? Will it be Rema with his debut or Fireboy with his third? Or will it be the Next Rated winner, Omah Lay?
