Adenike Olanipekun, a survivor of human trafficking talks about her sad journey from Nigeria to Libya, how she was enslaved for 2years, and also rapǝd by the Libyan Police
She was trafficked to Libya by here mother friend with lots of promises.
Adenike who is a native of Ogun state, revealed that her mum’s friend shared the opportunity of her going to Libya with her and her mum because her mum couldn’t afford it.
“We started chatting on facebook and my mum’s friend said she would help me if i follow her to Libya. She promised to help me but made me agree that i would pay her back in four months time for helping me with the explanation that, by then i should have worked and made a lot of money to pay her and send some home.
Adenike shared that she accepted the offer due to trust based on it’s her mum’s friend without thinking of the dangers or possibilities. She told her mum about it and her mum sold most of their belongings to assist in sending her to Libya.
“We started the journey from Kano to Niger and it was really difficult for us. We spent like thRee month on the road and water before getting to Libya.
When we got there, my mum friend was like, i had already spent so much time on the road and she had already sold me to a guy. I was like, but this is not what you told me before asking me to leave Nigeria.
Sadly, i didn’t have any decision than to accept it” She added.
