APC calls for outright cancellation of Rivers rerun elections

TVC E, POLITICS – The All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers state has called for the outright cancellation of last Saturday’s rerun election for National and State Assembly members, saying the election was marred by high incidents of violence and thuggery.
Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt, the state party chairman, Davies Ikanya, accused the police of conniving with PDP members in the state to rig the election.
The party Chairman maintained that there was an attempt to assassinate the governorship candidate of his party, Dakuku Peterside at UTC junction on Azikiwe road in Port Harcourt‎ on Sunday March 20th.

He alleged that the Chief of Staff, Government House, Emeka Woke and his team opened fire on the vehicle himself and Dakuku were riding in, with alleged intention to assassinate them.

According to him, the Chief of Staff to Governor Wike and his team trailed their vehicle to UTC  before opening fire on them.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state has suspended all actions on the parliamentary polls excepts in areas where results had already been announced.
