Lala Akindoju Blasts AGN Over Visit To Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko

Nigerian actress Lala Akindoju has called out the Actors Guild of Nigeria after they paid a courtesy visit to fellow actress Regina Daniels and her husband Ned Nwoko who just had a baby.

In a series of tweets, Lala wrote, “This is actually shameful. In these times where the actor’s guild should show leadership on pressing issues like navigating the industry with COVID-19, like creating structures to stop sexual harassment in the industry. This is their priority.

She then added, “Even if you visit your member, must you film and post? The videos we need to see about future and safety of practitioners. Yet, they abuse us and insist that we join. Sigh!”

Reacting to Lala Akindoju, the Actors Guild of Nigeria through its Director of Communications, Monalisa Chinda has issued a lengthy statement writing that ordinarily the organization would not dignify Lala’s repugnant and uninformed comment but it is compelled to explain the reason some of its members visited Regina and her husband.

An excerpt of the statement reads, “It is expedient to add that visiting Mrs. Nwoko was not just ordinary but significant for us because beyond holding the leadership of our noble Guild in the highest esteem, she also reached out to us to break the good news upon delivery of her bouncing baby boy.

It is also pertinent to note that Mrs. Nwoko’s Mother, Rita Daniel is the able Vice President, South South in the current executive council of the Guild.”
“Her husband, Rt. Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko is the current Chairman, National Board of Patrons of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

This makes it absolutely germaine for the National President, who arrived Abuja on an official assignment to make time out for courtesy and congratulatory visit to a committed guild member.”

“The National President is also scheduled to reach out to other members who have various health challenges and reach out to the vulnerables with palliatives.

Just so you know, the visiting group who was led by the AGN President, Emeka Rollas, presented a gift to the new mum, and named the newborn “Nollywood baby of the year”
