After a teacher allegedly flogged a 19-month-old pupil to death, the Delta State government shut down Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School in Asaba.
On Monday, February 7, 2022, the instructor, Emeka Nwogbo, the son of the school proprietress, allegedly fl0gged the child, Obinna Udeze, leaving many cane marks on his body.
The little boy was said to have fallen sick after the beating and was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba.
It was learnt that his health condition deteriorated until he eventually died on Saturday morning as a result of the whipping on Saturday, February 12 at the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba.
Meanwhile, the accused teacher is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing. The spokesman of Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, said they have commenced investigations into Udeze’s death.
