TVC E, POLITICS – The Peoples Democratic party will hold its national convention in May to elect new leaders to run the party’s affairs.
The party’s Chairman Ali Modu Sheriff disclosed this at the 69th National Executive council meeting of the party.
The major bone of contention at the meeting however, revolved round members of the National Working committee who got their tenure extended to May this year.
They were asked to step down by some party members who believe the process that led to their tenure extension, fell short of the party’s constitution.
But after hours of meeting the party’s decision remains unchanged.
The party believes it is now ready to elect credible leaders to run its affairs in the next four years.
To achieve this, a number of committees have been set up to help the party conduct credible congresses.
The committee has a short time to put together a convention and the success of the process would determine the party’s outing in the next election.
