Borno state closes cattle markets allegedly funding B’Haram

TVC E, BUSINESS – Some state governors are leaving nothing to chance as the war against terror continues in Nigeria.

The Borno state government has suspended trading in four cattle markets. This, is to prevent the sale of stolen livestock, to raise funds for the Boko Haram terrorists.

The state Governor, Kashim Shettima who announced this, said all trading activities have been suspended until further notice, in line with government’s commitment, to ensure no public place is turned into an avenue for funding activities of the terrorists.

The affected markets are in the towns of Gamboru, Dusuman, Shuwarin and Ngom, all outside Maiduguri, the state capital.

Sale of dried meat, such as “kilishi” has also been banned.

A military counter-offensive that began last year has recaptured territory lost to Boko Haram in Borno and two neighbouring states and the Federal government believes the group is technically defeated.
