Court fixes new date for Dokpesi’s trial

dOKPESI-COURT-TVCETVC E, NEWS – The trial of  erstwhile  Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc,  Raymond Dokpesi was stalled on Wednesday due to improper filing of additional prove of evidence.

At the resumed hearing, defence counsel, Wole Olanipekun  notified the court of an additional prove of evidence filed by the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs which was served him in court.

Olanipekun also  argued that apart from needing time to study it,   the documents were not formally presented before the court.

He  said the document ought to come through a formal application. He therefore sought for an adjournment.

But the prosecutor objected saying the documents were clear enough.

After hearing from the counsels, Justice James Tsoho adjourned hearing to April the twenty eighth.

Earlier, the attention of the court was drawn to the transfer of the case to another court but Justice Tsoho held that the file transfer was made in error.

Having taken a fresh  plea, the judge directed the trial should commence.

Dokpesi is being re-arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged N2.1 billion fraud.
