‘Rise of the Orisha’ to get feature length release

TVC E, MOVIES – Africans superheroes will be making their debut on the big screen with an upcoming feature.

Nosa Igbinedion’s critically acclaimed short film “Oya: Rise of the Orishas,” is coming back; this time as a feature film.

The short film that was financed through crowd funding will have Hollywood actor Tim Reid serving as Executive Producer.

Titled “Rise of the Orisha,” Nosa will write and also direct the feature length project and has cast “African City” star Esosa E in the lead role. The film resurrects mythical deities from African folklore, known as Orishas, into modern-day superheroes.

“Rise of the Orisha” will be the first of a trilogy of films and the shared Orisha universe will also include other mediums, starting with a web series titled “Yemoja: Rise of the Orisha,” which will come before the feature film.
