EFCC arrests Abba Moro over immigration recruitment scam

Abba’s arrest was in connection with the poorly handled 2014 recruitment exercise into the Nigerian Immigration Service in which no fewer than 20 job seekers died.

Arrested alongside the former Minister was the then Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Fatima Bamidele,

An insider said to be a Director in the Board of the Immigration, Fire Service, Prisons and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps was also picked in the process and the three suspects were picked up in the evening.

They were brought into the commission’s headquarters yesterday and will be arraigned on a 12-count charge in the Federal High Court Abuja today Tuesday.

Some of the charges against Mr. Abba Moro and his colleagues include obtaining by false pretense, procurement offences, corrupt practices and money laundering.
