Wendy Williams’ Ex-Husband Files $250M Lawsuit to End Her Guardianship

Kevin Hunter, ex-husband of former talk show host Wendy Williams, has filed a $250 million federal lawsuit seeking to end her court-ordered guardianship. The suit, filed in New York, targets her legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey, Wells Fargo Bank, her former financial advisor Lori Schiller, ex-manager Bernie Young, and others.

Hunter alleges that the guardianship—put in place in 2022 after Wells Fargo froze Williams’ accounts over “suspicious activity”—has become abusive and serves no protective or therapeutic purpose. He claims Williams is being held against her will in an assisted living facility, over-medicated, denied contact with loved ones, and financially exploited.

Despite being diagnosed with Graves’ disease, dementia, and aphasia, the lawsuit states Williams passed a competency evaluation in March 2025 and is capable of making her own decisions. Hunter accuses those in charge of ignoring medical advice and keeping her in “fraudulent bondage” for personal gain. The suit also highlights that none of the responsible parties have moved to end the guardianship.
