Nigerian filmmaker and director, Daniel Ademinokan, has publicly countered claims made by his ex-wife, actress Stella Damasus, regarding the circumstances surrounding their divorce. The former couple, who parted ways in 2020, have recently found themselves at the center of public scrutiny following Stella’s statements in a 2023 interview.
During her appearance on The Teju Babyface Show, Stella Damasus claimed she found out about the end of her marriage via a YouTube video. According to her, friends and associates reached out to her, directing her to a clip where Daniel allegedly declared the marriage over. “A lot of things were said about me on YouTube because that is how I found out my marriage had ended,” she said, insisting she was blindsided by the news.
However, in a direct response posted on Instagram, Daniel denied her version of events and accused her of spreading falsehoods. He shared a screenshot of an email sent by Stella dated July 20, 2021, in which she asked for the address to which divorce documents should be sent. He emphasized that he had chosen to remain silent for years, but would not tolerate lies.
More seriously, Daniel alleged that part of the reason for ending the marriage was due to physical abuse suffered by his son during their union. He claimed that his son once had to wear makeup to cover bruises before attending school—a revelation that has shocked many fans. He noted that the divorce was necessary for his and his son’s wellbeing.
Before Stella, Daniel was married to Nollywood actress Doris Simeon, with whom he shares a son. Following their separation, he married Stella Damasus, and after their split, he remarried and currently shares another son with his present partner.
