Daddy Showkey Recounts Pasuma’s Loyalty During Tough Times

Veteran Nigerian musician Daddy Showkey has publicly showered praise on Fuji star Alhaji Alabi Pasuma for being a steadfast friend during one of the most difficult periods of his life. Speaking emotionally during a live performance at a recent event, the Galala music pioneer paused mid-show to express deep gratitude to Pasuma, revealing a personal story that has remained largely unknown to the public for years.

According to Daddy Showkey, he was involved in a serious accident in 2007 which left him hospitalised for three years. During that time, he said many in the industry forgot about him, but Pasuma stood by him like a brother. “You see this man, he was with me in bad times and good times,” Daddy Showkey told the audience. “For three years, I was in the hospital. Pasuma took care of my family. I can never forget him in my life.”

The touching tribute sheds light on the real-life struggles of entertainers who often fade from the spotlight after their peak. Daddy Showkey, who rose to fame in the late 1990s with his unique fusion of reggae and highlife sounds, helped popularise the Galala dance and music style from Ajegunle. His public acknowledgment of Pasuma’s loyalty not only reinforces the importance of brotherhood in the entertainment industry but also highlights a rarely seen emotional side of these cultural icons.

This story resonates with fans and observers of Nigerian music culture, reminding many that beyond the fame and glamour, real friendships still exist in showbiz.
