Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty in London Nightclub Assault Case

American R&B star Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged bottle attack at a popular London nightclub, Tape, which took place in 2023. The 35-year-old artist appeared at Southwark Crown Court, where he confirmed his identity and responded “Not guilty, ma’am” to the charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Brown was arrested in Manchester last month shortly after arriving in the UK for his ongoing world tour. He was initially taken into custody but later released after posting a £5 million security bond, allowing him to continue performing across Europe.

His co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, popularly known as Hoody Baby, entered the same plea of not guilty.

Initially, prosecutors charged Brown with one count of grievous bodily harm. However, the charges were later expanded to include two additional counts: assault causing actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon—the alleged weapon being a bottle used during the incident. While Brown has entered a plea on the initial charge, he is yet to respond to the newly added ones.

The singer is expected to return to court on July 11, following the conclusion of his European tour. Should no resolution be reached before then, a full trial is scheduled for October 26, 2026.
