Mr. P Accused of Lying in Court: Defence Disputes Fraud Claims Against Jude Okoye

Peter Okoye of P-Square, also known as Mr. P, is under fire in an ongoing fraud case. His brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, faces charges from the EFCC. But during cross-examination last Friday, the defence lawyer accused Peter of giving false and misleading statements.

EFCC Charges Against Jude Okoye

Jude Okoye and his company, Northside Music Ltd, were charged with four counts of fraud. One charge involved the alleged conversion of $767,544.15 for personal use. Jude pleaded not guilty.

Peter testified that he was defrauded by Jude and their company. But the defence lawyer, Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN), claimed Peter’s testimony was full of lies and contradictions.

Peter’s Education Claim Disputed

Peter told the EFCC he graduated from the University of Abuja. But in court, he admitted he never completed his degree. The defence presented EFCC records that showed Peter called himself a graduate in writing.

Financial Claims Contradicted by Evidence

Peter claimed he had no access to Northside Entertainment’s finances. But the defence showed documents that proved otherwise. The bank mandate revealed Peter and Paul Okoye were Category B signatories. Jude was listed as Category A.

Bank statements also showed Peter withdrew large sums in Naira and Dollars. He also received multiple direct transfers from Jude. This evidence contradicts Peter’s claim that he never benefited financially from the company.

Royalty Payments Under Scrutiny

Peter said he didn’t know about the royalty deal with Mad Solutions. He claimed he only received $25,000 and $20,000. But the defence presented the signed agreement, showing Peter was fully aware of the contract.

Records showed Peter actually received just over $4,000 and $5,000—much less than he claimed. The document was signed by all three parties: Jude, Peter, and Paul.

Defence Lawyer’s Final Words

“Peter’s testimony is full of false claims. These are not mistakes; they are lies meant to mislead the EFCC and this court,” Onwuenwunor told the judge.

Judge’s Ruling and Next Steps

Justice Rahman Oshodi accepted key documents into evidence. He urged the defence to share all materials with the prosecution for a smooth trial. The case was adjourned to October 10 and 17, 2025.
