Nigerian singer Orezi has opened up about his time away from the music spotlight, admitting that his absence was not due to industry pressures but a personal dip in ambition. In a recent interview with Hip TV, Orezi revealed, “I became less ambitious… I took myself out of the competition.”
Comparing himself to Afrobeats star Davido, Orezi praised the singer’s relentless drive, stating, “David dey hustle like say he never blow before.” He emphasized that Davido’s consistency is a key reason for his sustained success.
Orezi also voiced concerns about the evolution of Afrobeats, expressing that the genre is straying from its dance roots: “We love to party, we love to dance… if you remove that, you’re killing Afrobeats.”
Now in 2025, Orezi is making a bold comeback, declaring that he’s back in the game with full force and ready to compete with today’s top artists.
