Nigerian singer, actor, and politician Banky W (Olubankole Wellington) has added a remarkable academic achievement to his profile by earning a Master’s degree in Policy Management from the prestigious Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy in Washington, D.C.
In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, Banky W described the last few years as a “stretching season” for himself and his family. The entertainer-turned-public servant credited his journey to a mix of faith, family support, and personal resilience.
“Faith gives you the courage, resilience, and power to redefine endings,” he wrote. “What many may see as the finish line of a journey can become the starting point of the next chapter of your story.”
Banky W expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to study at one of the world’s leading institutions for public policy and administration. He emphasized the challenges of juggling parenting, academics, and public service, all at once.
“I’m even more grateful that we welcomed our second child, Hezekiah Oluwadarasimi Wellington, into the world in the middle of earning this degree in Washington DC,” he shared. “Parenting two children in the U.S., while earning a full-time Master’s and serving as a Fellow on Capitol Hill… was completely exhausting. But by the grace of God, the strength of faith, and the support of family, friends, and mentors—we did it!”
This academic milestone further solidifies Banky W’s dedication to public service and policy reform, continuing his efforts from his time as a political candidate under the Modern Democratic Party and later, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
