Nollywood icon Joke Silva has opened up about her love story with veteran actor Olu Jacobs, shedding light on why she married him despite their 20-year age difference.
Speaking on the Real Estate Magnates podcast with Stephen Akintoye, Joke recalled introducing Olu to her parents in 1984. While her father initially raised concerns about the significant age gap, her mother was more understanding—having experienced a similar situation in her own marriage.
“Initially, my dad had issues with the fact that Olu Jacobs was older, but my mum was like, ‘Well, this is the person they know me with,’” she shared.
Joke and Olu tied the knot in 1985 and have remained happily married for over four decades. Olu Jacobs is now 82, while Joke is 62.
When asked why she chose him despite the age difference, she responded candidly, “I was in love with him. As simple as that. And he was such a gorgeous person.”
She also recalled a touching moment when her sister encouraged the relationship, saying, “Joke, this is the man to take to daddy.”
Their story remains a beautiful testament to love that transcends age.
