Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has been selected to record and perform the theme song for the upcoming Nigerian superhero animation series, ‘Iyanu,’ produced by Lion Forge Entertainment. In a video posted on the series’ YouTube channel, Alade expressed her excitement about the project and her hope that fans will enjoy the song as much as she does.
“Hello, everyone, my name is Yemi Alade. I’ve fantastic news for you today. I just want to share with you right now that I’ve been asked to sing the theme song for the incredible animated series ‘Iyanu’,” she announced. “Enjoy my song ‘Iyanu’ right now. This is a love message from me to you and I really hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.”
‘Iyanu’ is an epic superhero tale deeply rooted in Nigeria’s rich culture, music, and mythology. The series follows the story of Iyanu, a teenage orphan girl who spends her days studying Yoruba history and ancient arts. Scheduled to debut in 2025, ‘Iyanu’ will be available to US audiences on Cartoon Network and Max, and in 44 African countries via Showmax. The star-studded cast includes Serah Johnson as Iyanu, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Stella Damasus, Blossom Chukwujekwu, and Shaffy Bello.
Yemi Alade, known for her previous work on Beyoncé’s ‘Lion King: The Gift’ album, brings her unique talent to this new project, further highlighting the global appeal of Nigerian music and storytelling.
