X has announced the rollout of passkey support for its Android app, enhancing security for users.
This feature, which was previously introduced for iOS users in the US in January and globally in April, allows for more secure account access.
Passkeys have gained popularity among tech companies and online services over the past year as a stronger alternative to traditional passwords, which can be easily guessed or stolen. This digital authentication method is now being embraced by password managers as well.
For X users, a password is still required to create an account. However, once logged in, users can enable passkeys by navigating through the app’s menu. This option is found under “Additional password protection” in the Security tab.
With this update, X aims to provide a more secure and user-friendly experience for its Android users.
