Disney has officially confirmed the production of Frozen 3 with a release date set for 2027, while The Incredibles 3 is currently in development at Pixar.
The announcement came during the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, following the massive success of the previous films in both franchises.
Frozen 3 to Address Unresolved Plot Points
During the D23 panel, Disney revealed that Frozen 3 will tackle unresolved storylines from Frozen II, with hints that a fourth installment might also be on the horizon. Concept art showcased at the event featured Elsa on her ice horse, joined by Anna and Olaf, as they head toward a floating castle of light. A sinister figure lurks in the shadows, adding an element of mystery to their journey.
The original Frozen, released in 2013, captivated audiences with its emotional tale of sisterly love, contrasting with the comedic elements provided by characters like Olaf and Sven. The marketing for Frozen II shifted towards an epic adventure, positioning Elsa as a powerful figure reminiscent of video game heroes. As the Frozen films have matured with their audience, Frozen II delved into more complex themes, such as confronting past mistakes and exploring deeper emotional narratives. Co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee are expected to continue this trend in Frozen 3.

The Incredibles 3: What to Expect
Although details about The Incredibles 3 plot remain limited, the return of director Brad Bird has fans optimistic. The sequel to the original Incredibles took 14 years to come to fruition, and while Incredibles 2 was well-received, it didn’t quite reach the same level of acclaim as its predecessor. The superhero family will face new challenges in their upcoming adventure, but specifics are still under wraps.
The Incredibles franchise stands out by blending heartwarming family dynamics with thrilling superhero action, setting it apart from other comic book adaptations. Fans are eager for Pixar to deliver a story that justifies continuing the franchise, especially since the wait for Incredibles 3 hasn’t been as long as it was for Incredibles 2.
