Donald Glover, known as Childish Gambino, prepares to release his final album under the Gambino moniker. The new record, titled “Bando Stone & the New World,” drops on July 19.
Glover has previewed the album with its first single, “Lithonia.” The track showcases a departure from Gambino’s usual style, featuring a more rock-oriented sound and lyrics that explore themes of disillusionment and apathy.
To build anticipation, Glover will preview “Bando Stone & the New World” at a special event in New York City’s Little Island public park on July 6, with tickets on sale since July 3.

Glover also released the first trailer for the “Bando Stone & The New World” movie, premiering it in IMAX theaters before “A Quiet Place: Day One.” The two-minute clip introduces fans to the post-apocalyptic world that Glover’s fictional musician character, Bando Stone, must navigate despite lacking necessary skills.
“Bando Stone & The New World” serves as Gambino’s second album release of 2024, following the updated version of his 2020 LP “3.15.20,” titled “Atavista,” released in May.
In addition to new music, Glover is gearing up for a massive world tour across North America, Europe, and Oceania from August 2024 to February 2025, with Willow Smith and Amaarae as supporting acts.
The release of “Lithonia” and the announcement of “Bando Stone & the New World” mark an exciting new chapter in Childish Gambino’s musical journey as he prepares to bid farewell to the moniker with his final album.
